A TBT overflowing with cuteness! Looking back at my best friend’s son’s first birthday—I only managed to stop by for a little while. Between having an eye infection (hence the glasses) and the venue being quite far away, I couldn’t stay late; I had to worry about transportation, and I couldn’t rely on anyone else to take me back home. Still, I couldn’t miss the celebration of this little prince’s first year of life, so I did everything I could to clear my schedule and make it there—even if just for a short visit—to drop off his gift. Getting there wasn’t easy, either; I’m not very familiar with the city where the party was held, and the location was really tucked away. I even had to walk a long distance just to reach the spot—and to get picked up afterward—since you couldn’t even get there entirely on foot! Ugh, it was a nightmare. I mean, the venue itself was lovely and great, but the journey there was incredibly remote and super confusing.

Well, in the end, I followed through—I went and spent some time with them. My friend’s parents didn’t think I’d make it, since I didn’t have a car—or even a contact who could give me a ride—but I managed to pull it off. It was really lovely to be able to go and spend some time there; I would have liked to stay longer, but other responsibilities called. The best part is that I didn’t miss it, and my friend was super happy that I was there. She turned two this year, and unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to her celebration—though, to be fair, they didn’t really hold a formal event. I bought her a gift, but I still haven’t been able to give it to her due to some family issues I’ve been dealing with. I keep telling her to let me know whenever she’s in town so I can drop it off, but she never actually does—so, the gift is just waiting there. When the right opportunity comes along, I’ll hand it over, and that’ll be that.
