U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly said, while emphasizing the need for war with Iran, "Let Iran attack Los Angeles (LA) and San Diego." This came just two days after similar remarks sparked backlash from California’s political circles.

On the 7th (local time), President Trump said at a Texas midterm campaign rally, "We are making sure that Iran never has nuclear weapons," adding, "Imagine if we let them hit San Diego or LA with a missile."
He continued, "Do you want to see a horrific scene? Let them attack San Diego. Let them attack LA. He said, "Then you will see the bad things happen."
However, President Trump immediately emphasized, "We will not allow that to happen," adding, "We are protecting our cities and our country."

The remarks are interpreted as an attempt to justify war by assuming that if Iran had not possessed nuclear weapons, major U.S. cities could have been attacked. Los Angeles and San Diego are the first and second most populous cities in California, where Democratic support is strong.
At a rally in Nebraska on the 5th, President Trump also said, "They could destroy a city," adding, "Let them destroy LA." I said, "Let them destroy San Diego."
At the time, he argued that the rise in oil prices due to the war was a "small price" to be paid for the safety of the world and the United States. However, criticism arose from the local area and the Democratic Party, questioning whether this meant they were willing to accept the destruction of a U.S. city.

In California's political circles, there were also intense reactions, including raising concerns about the president's mental health and demanding a suspension of her duties.
The White House responded by saying, "President Trump made it clear that U.S. cities would have been threatened if he had not stopped Iran from possessing nuclear weapons."

It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't attack when armed with other weapons, but would attack once they had a nuclear weapon,
Saying that you'll come to your senses once you're attacked just looks like a threat.

Do you lack empathy?
