Nomos & Thanalorian Scion --- Splinterlands Art Contest

I just finished my entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest. This time, I chose two characters that are opposites in Splinter and colors. It's been a while since I used blue and red, so I took it as an excuse for this.

Even though these would be "enemies", this time they wouldn't face each other, well, not at first, like the duels in cowboy moviesπŸ™„. The reason I chose these two is that, during the selection, there were several that would fit what I wanted to do, but these were perfect.

I've made another video for the endless queue, mostly because I haven't done much on my YouTube lately. If you want to see the latest thing I posted, click here.

I'll start editing gradually when I have some time, but for now, I'll leave you with some images to see how the process went. As time goes by, I'm using Photoshop less and less compared to Corel whenever I create something.

I started with a sketch hmmm lately, I've been doing that, at least in cases involving characters. In this case, there were two, so I had to fit things together a bit first. After trying different possible positions, these were the ones that stayed.

-.-

To start with the color, I first placed a gray base with different variations of it to distinguish some things and add some volume. I didn't focus too much on detailing in this part.

-.-

After the gray, some color to bring things to life. I placed the base colors, but with low saturation. Then, I would accentuate the colors more hmmmm the guy was of fire soooo I was thinking of giving him a power even though he doesn't have one, I tried something with that. You'll see if it stays in the end or if I change it.

-.-

As I said, the colors were very desaturated or pale, so with more intense ones, I added some shadows or highlights as well. So far, I was working on four layers, well, five, one for each sketch, one for each color layer and the last one for the background. It was convenient for a moment.

-.-

Btw, I didn't do anything special in the background I started with that idea from the beginning. I haven't made many changes since then but I've improved it a bit. I also simplified things more, leaving only three layers since I collapsed the respective sketch with the color. That allowed me to gradually eliminate the lines.

-.-

As I progressed, practically the lines weren't noticeable anymore, as I did some cleaning, which helped me detail things more. Several things were advanced, although specific parts were still missing, like the characters' faces and the water.

-.-

To finish! did the characters' faces, added the powers and a few other things, tweaked the colors a bit, and the piece was good to go.

Thank you very much for taking the time to view my work.
