I will be trying my luck here..
My friend needs financial assistance with regards his health. I'd really love to help in any way possible, thus I'm doing this.
I know this might not work, but what if it will? I have battled with myself many times if I should do this or not, but my heart thinks this would be the right thing to do.
This friend has always been kind to me, and to everyone else.. he has always been helpful even to strangers..
And now he is diagnosed with a rare disease, Pectus Carinatum (Pigeon Chest)
I couldn't afford to just sit here and do nothing
This is the result of his examinations
The following will be his statement asking for funds in a site called gofundme.com
Hello, everyone. I am John Philip B. Baricuatro, a 19-year old lad who's an incoming fourth year Communication student in a University in Cebu City, Philippines. I have a non-life-threatening condition called "Pectus Carinatum" which is a malformation of the chest characterized by a protrusion of the sternum and ribs. I got this since birth but it worsened this year. At first, I thought it was my heart that has something "wrong" but it wasn't after I underwent Electrocardiogram (ECG). Even so, the malformation of my chest has prevented my heart and lungs to function optimally, thus, respiration is inefficient.
The symptoms of having pectus carinatum are;
• Decrease in stamina
• Shortness of breath and fatigue
• Chest pain
• Fast heart rate
• Frequent respiratory infections
So far, I've experienced all of these. The chest pains I feel are from mild to intense. Sometimes, a little movement feels like my chests is being crushed. The shortness of breath and fatigue occurs frequent especially when I am doing strenuous activities - it sometimes lead me to unconsciousness. It has undeniably decreased my stamina and my strength is limited. If I use too much force, I directly feel the pain on my chest. Back then, the abnormal growth of the costal cartilage is barely the size of my palm unlike now that it's a "handful".
Due to the fact that I wasn't born with a silver spoon, my mother wasn't able to take immediate actions when I was young. Now that I've grown, my thoracic surgeon told me that my bones are already "stiff". Even so, there are still ways that can help me, either undergoing a surgery or wearing a brace. Bracing is the first line of the treatment that is why I need to undergo Computed Tomography (CT) Scan with contrast injected althroughout the process. I already underwent Serum Creatinine and will visit my surgeon once again for interpretation of the result.
After my friend introduced me to this site, I proceeded on making this campaign hoping that I could ask for monetary assistance. I am humbly knocking your hearts to help me with my battle. The goal of the campaign isn't the full amount that would be needed for me to proceed with my CT Scan with contrast but it will really help me a lot. Other funds will also go to future procedures that I will be undergoing like making a brace.
May it be little or not, I will always be thankful to you. My lips will never express it. This will be a big help for me to proceed with the first line of treatment which is making a brace. I'm doing this so that I can help my widowed mother with the needed expenses for my treatment. Thank you so much. God bless.
this is a picture of his chest now
I know there's a lot of good people around the steemian world, I just hope that this will get attention.
Any kind of help will be welcome, it could be in form of money or prayer.. Either, it would be of a great help.
Thank you!
