I STOOD AT THE ARCHWAY FOR MONTHS TODAY I FINALLY WALKED THROUGH___16TH OCTOBER
I saw today's prompt and I just stared at it for some seconds - "going through the archway".
Immediately I pictured an old gate in my mind. You know that kind of gate you see in villages? The one that separates the old compound from the new road.
Going through the archway is not just walking. It is a decision. You are leaving something behind.
For me, as a student in Awka, I have been standing in front of many archways. The archway between being a child who depends on parents, and being an adult who must hustle. The archway between fear and trying. For many months I was just standing there, looking at the archway, afraid to go through.
Because what is on the other side? I don't know. Nobody knows.
But today I realized - you cannot stay under the archway forever. You must go through. Even if your legs are shaking.
When you go through the archway, you might not come back the same person. The archway changes you. The old noise stays behind. The old excuses stay behind.
I am going through my own archway now. Leaving procrastination behind. Leaving the fear of "what will people say" behind. I am walking through, even with small steps.
It is not easy. But the archway is open. And I am going.
This is my 5 minute freewrite for today's dailyprompt - going through the archway.
