Racism Kills!
If you have friends or family who speak, casually, about the Chinese creating the coronavirus in a lab and not caring about human lives, please, speak up and nip this ignorance/hatred in the bud.
The murder of 8 people in Georgia (by a White American Male) comes amid a recent wave of attacks against Asian Americans coinciding with the spread of the coronavirus across the United States.
Since March last year, nearly 3,800 hate incidents toward Asian-Americans have been reported across the country, according to social organization Stop AAPI Hate, which said Tuesday’s shootings would “only exacerbate the fear and pain that the Asian-American community continues to endure.”
We live in dangerous times, fueled by fear, and maddened by ignorance.
I leave you with this timeless reminder:
"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
—Martin Niemöller (1892–1984)
