This painting depicts the surface of the water with water lilies and lotus flowers blooming and floating grasses swaying. I used to sketch flowers a lot, but I didn't draw water lilies and lotus very often. But I often see them in botanical gardens, and every time I see them I think how beautiful they are.

スイレンやハスの花が咲き、浮草が揺れる水面を表現した絵です。私は以前よく花をスケッチしていましたが、スイレンやハスはあまり描いていないんですね。でも植物園で見るのはよく見ていて、綺麗だなあと見るたびに思います。
