Interestingly, I don’t see your strategy as a failure or something to be ashamed of. You made the best choice given the time you had to paint the wall, and you couldn’t risk the firewood getting damp… with winter “just around the corner.”
I think you thought it through very well. Now, if you’re embarrassed for having put off painting the garage until now, I can understand that… But I can’t criticize you, because I’m thirty times worse than you.
I like organization, but at home—and since I live alone—it doesn’t bother me that things aren’t completely tidy, because I know exactly where everything is. They’re just not in their proper drawers and rooms.
Visually, that’s a big eyesore and a major distraction. I know perfectly well the great feeling I get when I’ve just tidied up a room or finished mopping the floor.
I started my vacation today. My flight leaves early tomorrow morning, at 5 a.m. I’ll have to be at the airport by 3 a.m., and I really don’t feel like tidying up anything at home...
Now that’s embarrassing! The only thing I’ll tidy up before heading to the airport is my tiny backpack (the one that fits under the seat in front of me, and that I’m allowed to bring on board).
It’ll only be a few days, but it’ll do me good. And then, I hope I’ll be able to muster the courage to tidy up my surroundings a little more.
Everything will surely get better!
