I am ashamed.
First of all, again I didn't take much of a "before" picture, before I had already moved shelves and crap. A couple days ago I started clearing some stuff from the garage before I could paint the floor and today I really got into it, but I shamed myself. And now, I am shaming myself publicly.
No, not because of this "art" painted on the wall.
Rather, this.
I couldn't bring myself to move this pile of firewood (cut from birch trees we removed a couple years ago), as I just didn't have the will. Moving it from where it sits is not the real problem, rather, I would have to move it back to the same place and stack it all again. It is about three cubic metres of wood and I just can't. Instead, I am just going to paint around it and then, build a little wooden fence to hem and hide my shame. Once it is burned away, I will paint that patch.
Until then...shame.
This is the smaller section of the garage. I wish I could paint it all at once, but it just isn't viable as I'd have to put everything outside and rain storms are constantly arriving, even though it is sunny today. I am trying to get as much done as I can while it is a bit warmer, so I don't have to wait as long between coats of paint.
I painted the previously painted (once upon a time) wall with white base paint, to match the rest of the basement. But the red brick will stay. With left over floor paint from the other section (I stupidly thought I'd have enough with an 18L can to do the lot), I started cutting in the edges and then with thinnered paint, I rolled the floor to seal it. This will drive "pretty quickly" so maybe even tonight (likely tomorrow) I will be able to put down a full coat and hopefully this section will only require one. It will still take a week to dry before I can start to move stuff onto it, but perhaps in a couple days I might be able to attempt it anyway. After all, this is the garage.
As said, the first can of paint was 18L and I had to go and buy another one today to ensure that it is enough to cover the garage. It should be plenty, and at 303€ a can +25 for the colour, I don't want to have to buy any more. However, the larger can is far cheaper per litre than the 9L, and it means that I will have enough to do another coat in some of the other areas where we will spend more time.
Once the garage painting is done, I am looking forward to taking some time to reorganise where things are, which I have done a few times in the last six years, but have never quite been happy with it - because especially the garden and winter tools, don't have a nice place. They are just kind of piled up. And of course, I am getting rid of a lot of collected stuff that we no longer need, that can go to charity.
After a short hiatus, I am getting into the mood to get this done again, so hopefully the constant waiting for paint to dry doesn't kill what little motivation I might have.
