It might be out of fear of not knowing what comes next, or it might be that he realises that he only has so many days he can put in that level of work for something he wants to compete at.

I think he has the support of those who may have made him aware of the limits of his abilities. I don’t believe it’s truly a fear, but rather a fixation and a boundless obsession with always surpassing the best mark ever set by someone who came before him, or who is competing for records at this very moment. Notice the answer he gave when asked about Messi. It’s clear that he’s fixated on himself and has a marked contempt for everyone else.

We are certainly entering a phase where we hardly look around us anymore, and we’re only concerned with our own existence. How sad.
