Good evening, #Monomad friends
Today I want to share with you, in my first post of the year, a small set of photographs I took on the 29th. I traveled to Torres Vedras, a town near Lisbon, to meet a friend who was organizing a Christmas dinner for the needy. Those who attended were asked to bring a small contribution to brighten up the table, especially for those who need it most.
As I arrived earlier than requested, I took the opportunity to get to know and revisit this city, as I hadn't been here for many years.
After spending some time looking for a parking space, I luckily couldn't find one near the Church of Santiago. I had to walk to the church, which brought me into closer contact with the streets still decorated for the Christmas festivities and in preparation for the New Year.
Noticing a decorative element with lights in the shape of a star on one of the city's most emblematic shopping streets made me stop for a moment... and, in the form of a little prayer, I wished that the simplicity that this season invites us to, may that same simplicity invade everyone's heart? That it makes us see in ourselves, and in others around us, their greatest value.
Today I had the opportunity to have my first breakfast of the year in the company of four people I hold dear. And in conversation with one of them, and after a small comment I made about myself, that same person reciprocated it in such a way that I was able to see the best in myself. Let's be more of that light in the minds of those around us, and let's know how to value our neighbors more and not think only of our own needs.
