Use of drugs and alcohol environmental or genetics?
Hi everyone, it’s a pleasure to bring up this controversial topic here. After so much pondering I’ve decided to write about the topic “USE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL GENETICS OR ENVIRONMENTAL?”
Both genetics and environmental conditions can contribute to the usage of drugs and alcohol.
Scientifically the use of alcohol and drugs is proven to be genetic in some cases but in most cases, it’s found to be environmental.
Judging from the environment, we find a lot of people use these substances without considering the damage they can cause to their health such as liver failure, heart disease, cancer, and most especially addiction.
Speaking of addiction, how do people get addicted to the usage of substances?
Well, they don’t just wake up and say I want to smoke or I want to take alcohol. There’s an age when all these things start which I define as adolescent age.
Adolescence is the most critical part of our lives where the development of the brain is subjected to different types of changes especially when it comes to things we hear, perceive, and see every day.
Things we see people far and close to us do at this particular age could change the trajectory of our lives and our future.
I grew up knowing my dad to be a smoker which he does right in front of us, from his point of view he sees nothing wrong in it because he believes we don’t know what he is doing.
Along the way, we began to imitate the behavior by using paper rolls and match sticks to generate smoke just the way our dad did.
Unfortunately, my elder brother was in his adolescence age and I was way younger so he adapted to this habit he decided to try the real one and addiction step in but I on the other hand saw the effect of these substances on both my dad and my brother and I decided to change my way without being told to.
