Adventures & Explorations #541
In case you can't read it, "Here stands the world's first electrically-lighted outdoor Christmas tree, unveiled at the Hotel del Coronado on December 24, 1904". Well, that's the bottom part of

Still wandering around the Hotel del Coronado in December 2006. And being December, that makes it wintertime! And this is how we celebrate winter in San Diego - ice skating on man-made ice rinks! Well,

Looking across the bay from Coronado to Point Loma in December, 2006. You can almost make out the old Point Loma Lighthouse in the middle there (white building).

Now, it's December 2006 and I'm down visiting the Hotel del Coronado (again). So glad this Victorian monstrosity hasn't suffered the fate of so many other grand old WOODEN hotels.

Looks like we're caught up on Swapmeet Finds for the moment (not counting negatives). So it's back to Adventures & Explorations (A&E) for a while. Here we are in November 2006 and it appears I'm

Best guess - this is William George Tickle who was married to Mary Ann Tickle (seen in previous post) until he died in 1932. Which would make him Ila's grandfather-in-law. Probably, maybe, possibly. Got

Alan Tickle's mother (?) and a newspaper article about her passing. It says she was born in 1867, so this must've been in 1958. Wow, that would make her in her late 40s when she had her one son Alan. That

And I do believe this is Ila with her brand new hubby - Alan G. Tickle! Sometime during WWII, possibly outside their newlywed house. Of course that's ALL speculation... :-)

And I do believe this is our Ila, doing the split there in the middle. Of course, at that time (Santa Monica High School, late 1930s), she was still Ila Sohlberg. She hadn't met Mr. Tickle, yet. Can't

Don't know who this chap is. Possibly Ila's father, possible not. But I was able to find quite a few things about the photographer - Charles Aylett of Toronto, Canada. Apparently, he was a very popular

This one looks around 1900-ish. So it could be Ila's Mother. Possibly before she got married (no wedding ring). Or not. :-)

Welp, I think we've finally reached the end of the line for Patsy pictures. Couldn't find any more oldies in Crockett that might have a modern version on Google. At least it's the end until I get around

Another Patsy place I was able to find - once I knew it was Crockett California where she grew up. The picture at the bottom that was labeled "Patsy by Carfuinez Grammar School Tunnel Jan. 8, 1939".

Next, I wanted to see if the houses behind our Little Rascals in 1938 were across the street from Patsy's house. And sure enough, they are! The exact same houses are still there. They've enclosed the porch

Next, I went looking on Google street view for the modern appearance of that dangerous old playground that Patsy used to love. Seemed like it was somewhere in the vicinity of the library and train station.

Here's the old Southern Pacific Lines railroad depot in Crockett, where Patsy used to hang out in 1938. Like I say, it's now the "CROCKETT HISTORICAL MUSEUM". But at least it's still there. Doesn't

Now that we know Patsy lived in Crockett California as a child, it's fun to track down all the places she visited back in the 1930s-40s and see how they look nowadays. Fun for me, at least. Your mileage

Moving further up the hill on A Street (to get above the trees and houses that are blocking the view that Patsy had), we can see that big dark bridge that was in several of her pictures from the 1930s.
