I’m a 30-year-old salaried woman living in the capital of a tropical country, and it’s been a while since my last post. Breaking news: I’m quitting. Not just another “what if,” but for real. No more hesitation; I am ready to be unemployed.
Yup, I resigned before even getting a new offer from a new company in this economy. After submitting my resignation letter, I was surprised that I wasn't shaken at all. No fireworks. No dramatic music. Not losing my composure, even when too many feelings came at once and overwhelmed me.
I realized there was no undo button anymore.
Some said I was leaving for good. I prefer to think of it as being ready to enter another era of getting out of my comfort zone. The plan I’ve built for years will need another trigger. Resigning will put me in survival mode and, hopefully, let me thrive in new opportunities compared to before. Comfort has been too good to me, but comfort has also made me complacent. I might need uncertainty to force me to learn again.
There will be no more monthly stable salary, but I will also get no more office gossip.
There will be no free health insurance, but I will also get no more anxiety about whether I’m still pursuing my vision or not.
No more routine, and I will need to build my own day-to-day plan.
At my own pace, at my own discretion.
I will have the full right to choose what I want to do, who I want to work with, and whose vision fits mine.
I guess this will be my big turning point. No turning back and no room for regret, because I chose this path.
I submitted my resignation letter, and this will be my last period at this company.
I am proud of myself for having the courage to decide what is best for me. I wish for the best for myself and everyone else who strives for a better life.
I don't know what comes next. But for the first time in a long while, the uncertainty feels exciting. And I think that's enough.
