Maybe you know, or maybe not, that I'm writing music lessons. So far I've written two lessons (first and second) and I am preparing the third and the fourth.
So far on steemit I've learnt that “heavy” contents must be hosted outside, because the blockchain can't keep all those data (I understood it so, feel free to correct me).
For the images I'm using imgsafe and it works well for me. Another suggestion given here is ipfs, but I also read about steemimg, and the comments make me think there's a little bit of confusion on where the images actually will be — I stick with my idea that they won't go in the blockchain.
I've seen that link to youtube videos result in embedding that video, I've read someone asking the same feature for vimeo — I don't know if this request was fulfilled.
While I'm doing my plans for the music lessons, I've realized that it would be useful to be able to put not just the image of a musical piece, but also the audio rendition. I don't want to setup accounts, I want something as simple as imgsafe: upload, link. That's all.
I've found vocaroo. The name and the text suggest it is tailored for voice, rather than generic sounds.
Here it is a test.
Here the code for embedding which I can't post because it says to remove the object tag and so on:
<object width="148" height="44"><param name="movie" value="http://vocaroo.com/player.swf?playMediaID=s1lX6j0RwffX&autoplay=0"></param></param><embed src="http://vocaroo.com/player.swf?playMediaID=s1lX6j0RwffX&autoplay=0" width="148" height="44" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object><br><a href="http://vocaroo.com" style="font-size:xx-small;" title="Vocaroo Voice Recorder">Voice Recorder >></a>
And here I put the link raw, just to see what's happening (nothing, I suppose):
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1lX6j0RwffX
Suggestions? It would be nice if it exists a service that is embedded automatically just like youtube video.
In case you're curious, here the score for the piece. Fluidsynth with the default soundfont rendered a MIDI file generated from this score by lilypond — plain flat computer interpretation, but it gives the idea.
