There’re two meanings for the reason you should write down this plan.
On the one hand, it makes you know what you want. You are your audience when speaking to yourself. The reason that we feel pain, anxiety, or angry is because we don’t understand our true thinking or hear what we say in our mind. If there’s a moment when you know what you want, you would feel a little better.
A simple plan has the same impact; compared to think aimlessly, speaking it out or writing it down could generate better results. It likes a promise to ourselves, which shows responsibility for doing it. After that, you would put your more energy on that consciously.
On the other hand, writing it down and making it public means that other people have already seen it, which likes a contract and others would watch you. As a result, you would more easily keep doing it.
Everybody wants to be better. Now, you could try to list what you will do next week. Here’s a few suggestions:
1、It aims to improve ourselves, not become worse.
2、The goal is not too big, or you can divide it into small actions. For instance, you want to quit smoking, but you cannot make it in one week, so you can decrease it by half next week.
3、The plan is not made be perfect. No matter what we are going to do, we should keep in mind that we need room in case that we are not overwhelmed by a full plan; which would not make us depressed after not finishing it.
I hope you have nerve to try it. If you fail, you are still yourself; if you get it done, you are better yourself. Good luck.
