I received an awesome gift from my friend
@thekittygirl today! She sent me a Bigfoot Believe silver round and she is as thrilled as I am because it is my first.

I had never given silver coins a thought until I joined up with the steem/hive community. Now I read the posts and wonder how I could join in the ranks of these silver loving people. Thanks to
@saffisara (showing off her Bigfoot coin in one her many comments) and
@thekittygirl (spending hours chatting about the many lovely coins she has) I have found my silver addiction. Monsters, dinosaurs, states, and parks will be my focus. Oh, I can't wait to start the search!

This, I have learned, is not a coin, but a round. A coin is something that has been minted by a financial government. A round is just silver done up in a cool design. It is only a 1/2 troy ounce of silver, but for being my first piece I am pretty pleased.
As for the weight above silver is measured in troy ounces. This is 31.1034768 grams of silver and is slightly bigger than a normal ounce which is 28 grams. The term "troy ounce" goes back to the Middle Ages in Troyes, France, where the merchants use the Roman monetary style. The Roman's would break a bronze bar into 12 pieces and each piece weighed 31.1 grams.
The image of this bandsaw box I made in 2007 is from my cellphone.

When my father was alive I would spend time learning how to make wooden things. He was a carpenter by name and trade. He spent one summer teaching me how to make what is called a bandsaw box. This, as it is says, is made using a bandsaw. You cut a center section from the wood you use and then cut out a portion from the "cut out" to create a drawer. The wood was from the giant walnut tree that fell in his back yard a few prior. I sanded, used powdered turquoise to fill in the area I sawed through to get to the center, and put in a piece of red velvet to make the inside pretty.
This was a gift I had made for my mother-in-law that year. Since her passing three years ago, it has found its way back to me. I thought this would be a great place to start putting my collection of Bigfeet "coins". I think it will do nicely.

As of this time, from what I am finding, there are only three Bigfoot designed coins/rounds. I look forward to seeing if I can find other designs of him. For now, I will enjoy this round and start saving up to purchase my first actual coin.
My thanks again goes out to
@thekittygirl for my very fist piece of silver and encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone. I don't really collect things so this is a huge step for me. Quite amusing that the first is a BIGFOOT!
