Hello everyone! I don't know if this is the right community in which I can post this. But I would like to write something about our senior dog.
I always write a blog about my pets here, and Pogi, our senior dog, is one of them. He was my deceased great-grandfather's dog.
Back when I was still a high school student, there was a little dog that came with my uncle. They didn't know that there was a small dog following them. That's why, while he was running to join them because they were riding a cricket, they picked him up and brought him home.
Then they gave it to me because they already had a pet dog and we didn't have a pet dog before. But my great-grandpa was there at that time, and he said he wanted to take care of him.
To be honest, I didn't want to give him to him because, of course, I was still young and immature in such things before, and I thought that he might not be able to take care of him because of his old age. But because I was busy and because I had to go to school, I let him and my great-grandmother take care of him.
I was happy because they took good care of him. My greatgrandpa even named him pogi because he said his boss is also pogi (Handsome) which is him. Since there are only two of them in their house, when they have a delicious dish that they haven't eaten or have left over, they give it to him, so he grows up healthy and hyper.
Our greatgrandpa really loved him and he was his companion until our greatgrandma passed away and even when our Greatgrandpa got sick, he always told us to feed him and not neglect him.
So, since my Greatgrandpa also died, My grandmother and I served as Pogi's second furparent. My grandmother even said that she would take care of Pogi because that was her father's order and because I am a lover of pet dogs and cats, I am with my grandmother in taking care of him.
I have also fallen in love with him because he is full of memories of my great-grandparents (My great-grandmother and I are close). This dog is also very energetic and mischievous because maybe he enjoys and really likes being called a pogi.
I take care of him, feed him well, and we don't neglect him. But because we are also poor, especially at this time when we don't have any money because of the so-called "poor season" here in the province, it's inevitable that they only eat once because the price of rice is so high. It is inevitable that they only eat once or sometimes only twice a day because the price of rice is so high, and I understand why my grandparents sometimes get angry with me when I feed them three times a day because I pity my dogs.
I can't stand them. It's hard for me because I have a soft heart for such things when it comes to pets, and I consider them family. There are times when I am attacked by trauma because I always blame myself for the deaths of my past pets.
So, I am doing my best right now, even though I'm being scolded here because I'm stubborn. I feed them rice that I should only feed them once a day because we have nothing to eat, but I still do it because I don't want to regret that I didn't do anything for them. I don't want the pain to happen again, and I am always haunted by guilt every night. I wish that I could at least make up for the times when my pets needed me and I did nothing when bad people took them.
Because Pogi is in serious condition. It's hard to be poor because I don't know what to do. If only I were rich, I would have taken him to the vet immediately; I don't need to write what I feel right now here.
In the past few days, he has been fine. He was even squirming because he got out of his leash, but I was able to put him back right away. Because it rained for several days here, they always stayed in their shelters. I thought he was fine in his place, but yesterday I noticed that he had pus on his body, and I thought it would go away.
Then I also noticed that he had a soft lump on his neck yesterday morning (but now it's gone). When I cleaned his place yesterday too, I noticed that there were red ants there. So I immediately moved him to a place without ants. I didn't mean it because I didn't know that there were ants in his place. He's just quiet and doesn't complain about the place where he's sleeping.
I don't know if that's where he got that because he stayed there for a few days and we weren't here at home on Sunday because we went to Grandpa's farm. Now, we give him a lot of food and I always check on him. I make sure there is no ant in his place. I also apologized to him several times because I didn't notice right away.
I am still very grateful to the Lord. Because when I call Pogi by his name, he also wags his tail at me and comes closer. But my problem, and I pay attention to him, is that even though there is a lot of food and his dish is delicious, he only eats a little.
If you ask me if I asked for help from the elders here, they just say that he is old, and that's why he is in that condition. Therefore, I am the only one who is concerned about his current condition and is looking for a way for him to recover. I'm looking for someone I know that I can ask about this condition of a dog, but the people I know who I can ask and who can help me are busy with their own priorities. That's why I watch Tiktok to see if there is anyone similar to his condition or any cheap drugs that I can buy to treat the pus on his body, because I can't afford to take him to the vet. But it's just sad because I don't know what his condition is, and I also don't know what medicine can be given to him.
That's why I can't do anything but post it here and tell you my thoughts about the condition of my beloved pet so that I can just hope that someone can help me and knows what I should do.
I understand that he is old. We had him for eight or ten years (because I don't remember if I was in my third year of high school or before I was in senior high school when we adopted him), but even at that age, I still can't bear to lose him. Those years are still not enough for me. I still want to be with him, and I want to see him every time I go out. That's why I'm doing my best now that even if I can't get him to the vet, I'm looking for a way to treat his condition within the reach of the little coin that I have.
I wrote this blog not to pity or seek sympathy from people. I wrote it here because I was hoping that someone would help me if anyone knows about this dog situation. I also wrote this because I want to share what I feel now as a furparent because it hurts my feelings to see my pet like that. So I hope you understand.
And to be honest, I just wrote down my feelings because I was running away from my trauma, thinking that I was blaming myself.
Anyway, if there are some people who know about this kind of condition in dogs, and if you know what you will do or buy, please let me know in the comment. (Except vet, because I don't have money to use for it.)
