Gardening is fun!
Today, I saw some Ewedu and Ewuro. I decided to take a picture for the community to see. Ewedu is a plant that can be eaten with Eba, Amala, and Ogbono soup. Ewuro can be used to make Egunsi. Together with Ugu, you would definitely smile!

Though Ewuro is bitter, it can be processed—after a series of washing and squeezing—to make a sweet soup. Ewuro is bitter, but let’s put that aside. It is also medicinal. When I was sick, my mother gave it to me, and I was okay.

Today, the leaves look fresh and green. I have a couple of them, and with the perfect sunlight, you can get the best from them. They need enough water too. I want them to grow tall so I can get the seeds.

This is called ewedu or Corchorus olitorius. It brings out flowers when it wants to produce seeds.

Ewedu grows tall but not up to the size of a tree.

Judging from the parallel venation, it is a monocot plant.

This is bitter leaf. It is locally called Ewuro. It is scientifically called Vernonia amygdalina. However, it is a shrub. It is also a monocot plant.

Wow! That was pretty simple. I like ewedu and amala because it is delicious.

Planting is fun!
