As usual, of late, I am running late. In addition to sharing music, TTT has turned into my weekly update for myself and what I'm doing. My spare time these last two weeks has been largely spent at the local community theatre, where we are preparing a play (opening tonight!) named Reckless. In addition to full days of work, we've been at the theatre up to 6 hours nightly in preparation. I'm also Stage Managing the next play after this one, and we have begun work on that as well. It has been time consuming, but very fulfilling! If you're in the northern Delaware area, drop me a note and come by to watch. The actors love a crowd.
Now, onto the music! First up is Rustic Wedding Symphony, Part 1, by the Victor Orchestra, followed closely by Part 2. I chose this song - and the next - in large part due to my feelings of vintage nostalgia that always seem to grow in the autumn. I love the autumn, and it always makes me think of how different life must have been hundreds of years ago when the end of the growing season was looked forward to with trepidation, fear, and excitement when the community needed to work together to survive. I can imagine a fall wedding with food, music, and dancing to help celebrate the end of the growing season.

The third song of the week is a song in a similar vein: Poet and Peasant Overture. This song is part of a larger operreta detailing the story of two young lovers who are separated by misfortune and money, one of whom is required to marry a gentleman she does not want, and the other who moves to another city to live the life of a romantic poet.
In the end they both get what they want, of course. This was not a tragedy, but rather the celebration of the simple things in life.
