Image comics often put out some good quality products. Unfortunately, as you point out, even good quality publishers got caught up in the all the crap that was pushed to market at the turn of the century. It's nice to see a resurgence in high quality, "alternative" publishers the last couple years; in my mind they produce better material than "the big two."
