I took my youngest child to Longwood Garden in Kennett Square, PA on Saturday, the day before spring. It was a nice day to get out - we were in t-shirts! Really nice after a winter, even as mild as we have had.
Be that as it may, as nice as the day was, there were still plenty of areas that were still bare. I'm really looking forward to the summer when the lily pad pools open. Many of the outdoor gardens were still bare, but the indoor garden in the conservatory were open and fantastic!
Now, I don't claim to know what any of the flowers actually are. There are signs that explain the flowers, which I read and then immediately forget. I end up naming the flowers something that resonates with my memory, such as "blue flower," "pretty red flower," "hanging bulb flower," "phallic flower," and what have you.
phallic flower
pretty red flower
hanging orange bulb
And the list goes on. The only flower I ever really seem to memorise is the rose, probably because they're my favourite flower.
Often I will take my good dslr with me to the garden and try to maneuver myself into the right position to take just the right picture. I did not, this time, and I was happy for it; it was really crowded, and my son was getting angsty with the crowd. What I had instead was my new phone - a Samsung Galaxy s21 - and the perfect opportunity to test out the camera.

All in all, a nice day, and fun for me using the new phone!
