Today's freewrite prompt, courtesy of 
Today, I seem to be the master of minimalism as well.
“Why, you red tongued little devil.” A friend of mine said that once. A female friend. Not a girlfriend, but a female friend. I was trying to have be a girlfriend, but I wasn’t sure it was working.
“Do you think I’m lying, or is my suave personality and way with words just having a positive effect?” I asked. That elicited only a laugh.
“No,” she answered with a smile. “Your red popsicle has turned your tongue red.” She grinned at me triumphantly. There was no way I was going to ever beat her in a war of words.
So now my tongue was red. Undoubtedly, so were my cheeks.
