English Version:

The Life-Bird

Sitting on this bank of the river today, I think, The boatman calls out to return to that other shore. On this side I built a home, yet it is temporary, On that other side lies the eternal nest, never to perish.

So many loved ones and known men and women, Have crossed over to that other shore before my very eyes. The illusion, attachment, love, and affection of this bank Will not last forever, for such is the rule of life.

So many dear faces were companions along the journey!Looking back, I ponder upon the memories of life.Just then, as I cast my eyes towards the horizon, In an instant, what transformation befell nature's sight!

The surroundings were covered in dark clouds, The wind blows with stormy, fierce force.Flashes of light I see across the sky,
I called upon the Creator at that very moment.

The river water trembles with restless waves, Nesthunter birds are flying in a rush.Nowhere do I see anyone when I look around, At the roar of thunder clouds, my heart shudders.

Hearing the call of the unknown, whom do I tell? The life-bird is singing in an unfamiliar tune.Has that final hour arrived today then? This soul weeps in the attachment of the earthly world.

Is this what the realization of the final hour feels like? No one is anyone’s companion, no matter how much I search. To destroy all suffering, only One remains—The Merciful, the Almighty, that Supreme Being.

There comes that final boat, it seems, Tearing apart the transient web of illusion.Return, and I shall forgive," someone seems to say, Let the life-bird depart, let it depart in innocence.
