Hydroponics is a new style of planting crops.With hydroponics plants are grown using no soil at all . The system is made up with water as the main source. The water is diluted with special nutrients that plants need to grow.
There are few different ways to plant hydroponically. For now I will be trying the easiest why . I will basically take a dark container , add some water and nutrients and place the plant on top of the container allowing the plants roots to soak up the mixture and grow.
It sounds simple . I have checked around on the web for some help. I have set up my first hydroponic plant this evening and here are some pics
A week ago I planted some seeds for germination. The seeds were planted in coco peat and Vermiculite . These are the both soil less growing mediums .
To night a week later I replanted them in a container made for hydroponics . These container has cuts around it.
I then bought the nutrients and mixed it in some water.
As you can see I used an old 2 l beverage bottle to save on costs ,and I have no idea if this will work.
Before i added the nutrients to the bottle I cut of the tops so the plant could fit on top of it.
I then covered the bottles with a dark plastic bag , so that no light will shine on the nutrient liquid. If it does it will grow fungi.
This is the basic method of hydroponics . Will my experiment work? I have no idea . I will send updates after a week .
