Dealing with these issues require that the problem be addressed from its root causes. This leads to the need to encourage, promote, strengthen and defend a shared spirit of human solidarity that may take many forms. - the simplest of which is friendship. Friendship can help promote a greater sense of well-being and inclusion, while also building bridges & inspiring solidarity between individuals and communities.

Friendship is the accumulation of bonds of camaraderie and developing strong ties of trust. It is believed to contribute to the fundamental moves that are needed urgently to achieve lasting peace and stability, as well as weave a safety net that will protect all of humanity. Friendship can also generate passion for a better world where everyone gets united for the greater good of all.

The United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2011 proclaimed The International Day of Friendship with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. July 30 was the set date and today marks the 12th celebration.
