The complex consists of four rounded, bubble-like structures with an oval shape that rise upward. They are connected by passages, and most of them are for commercial use—offices, shops, service centres, and so on. I didn’t have enough time to explore the entire complex. I took a pleasant walk through the interior area connecting the four buildings. I found that many floors and the ground floors were directly accessible, and there were many shops selling dresses and household utensils.

Cologne is usually associated with a concrete, crowded city, yet it also turned out to be a very spacious and at times even peaceful place. Huge parks, walking and cycling paths, promenades stretching along the Rhine River, and modern buildings create quite an interesting contrast with the historic architecture of the city. Everywhere you could see people walking, jogging, or simply relaxing by the water. Cruise ships and barges were regularly passing along the river. The city gave the impression of living at its own rhythm, but at the same time it was not overwhelming, as one might expect.

The museum and its building were built at the turn of the 20th century. The art collections are divided into Egyptian art, ancient art, painting, sculpture, graphic art, and modern art. In total, they contain over 100,000 exhibits, including works by Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt.
