The machine it speaks
only once each day,
and never varying,
always the same line,
it says,
"01110011 01100101 01100011 01110010 01100101 01110100 01110011"
We cannot know
what it means
this thing
that fell from
beyond, beyond the stars,
beyond the reach
of our species,
but it seems to have
within it
a mind, dreams, hopes,
because it speaks
each day, once.
and we,
we can never know,
its secrets.
