Good morning hive, today I'm sharing how I made this kimono. It's a very breezy one, perfect for the beach and casual outfits. I used a chiffon print fabric of about a yard. It was my first time working with chiffon, I won't lie, it was hard because it kept shifting. You can use chiffon if you wish or any other soft fabric that would stay in place.
PROCEDURE
First, I took my measurements and added extra inches to the sides for more ease. I folded the fabric into two leaving a space in the middle for the front opening.
I measured out my neckline and my sleeve. After marking out the shoulder of 8 inches, I added 10 inches more for the sleeve. Unfortunately I don't have a photo for this because I was struggling with the very shaky fabric at this point. But here's the already sewn shoulder and the cut out curve for the sleeve opening.
Next I folded the hem of the sleeve and used pins to hold it down as I sewed. If you're working with chiffon, you need a lot of pins.
Sleeve/arm hole ready.
Next, I cut out from the pink part of the fabric to use as bias for the neckline and also for the center of the kimono.
I folded the hem of the kimono ½ inch twice and sewed it.
The Kimono is ready!
