I wonder who invented/created this saying. Yes you may sleep better not knowing certain things in life and life may seem more rosy. But, as Les Brown says, “what you don’t know can kill you”
In Health:
Remaining ignorant about the dangers of certain food types may make you enjoy that fat laden monster of a sandwich more, but at what cost? Your arteries clogging up and you suffering a stroke. Not having regular check-ups to check for underlying issues and possible future life threatening ailments. These can, literally, kill you.
In Home Security:
Are you in a chat group with your neighbours or do you keep to yourself? Ignorance of your surroundings?? Not good!! If you do not know what’s happening in your area, how can you protect yourself from it? Estate Agents will lie to get a sale, I would not trust them, the previous home owner may too, depending on the type of people they are.
In Government:
This one is HUGE!!! I, myself, do not know of an honest government anywhere in the world (Comment below if you know any). I mean here in South Africa our president, Mr Jacob Zuma, (who by the way was convicted of rape) had has homestead upgraded to the tune of 246 MILLION ZAR (just over $18.5 million) while we are living in a poverty stricken country. If you curious check the link HERE for the story. The government officials steal from all of us daily, as @jeffberwick says, “Government is the biggest terrorist organisation in the world.” I tend to agree with him! Who funds wars? Again, South Africa, poverty stricken country, why are we spending $4.8 billion on ammunition? Why? For what? For who? Who is SOuth Africa going to start war with??
Gangsters (thugs) run amok in the suburbs of Cape Town and they won’t deploy the army. But the opening of parliament happens and there the army is, lining the streets to keep 1 man safe? I don’t get it… Clearly this needs to be dealt with. The issue will not be solved by you remaining ignorant of your governments shit. I mean our president can’t even read a number, like WTF… See video of him trying to read more than 6 figures HERE
Moving along…
In Poverty:
A few weeks back I took part in an initiative started by my wife. We gathered clothing and toys and non-perishable foods to an educare in one of the townships in Cape Town. Ignorance of poverty makes you believe stupid things. I was of the impression that thieves hideout there and is an unfriendly hostile place. Filled with fear we entered the township and drove between shacks on makeshift roads, barely space to manoeuvre the vehicle in some points until we arrived at our destination. The people are so friendly and I found out that if you are caught breaking the law, in any way, you will be dealt with severely. You will be beaten and your home demolished. What I learnt as well is that SARS (South African Revenue Services), also a deadly disease (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), are the monsters we peg them to be. The educare was donated a container of clothing for the kids due from the UK, after weeks of running around submitting this and that paperwork, the educare had to pay R170 000 ($12.8k) to have the container released from the port, not to have SARS bring it in or courier it, to have the released to the educare. This money, of course, they did not have as they only work on donations. The container was subsequently never sent from the UK because of the South African government.
Do not remain ignorant of poverty, you have been blessed with material things, sometimes in abundance. Visit the places and see for yourself.
In life:
I will end off here. There are many things we are ignorant of in life. The biggest one is your abilities! You do not know what you are capable of. Test yourself, if you have a passion for something, take it further. Do not be ignorant of the gifts you have been bestowed with. Again, Les Brown says that the richest place on earth is the cemetery, because there you will find inventions never created, businesses never built dreams never accomplished. You owe it to yourself to become knowledgeable on you and what you are capable of!
Till next time guys!
Love & Prosperity to all!
