There are so many cafes in Harajuku but why did we choose this one?
While roaming around Harajuku with my new friend I just met, we got tired and I really wanted to have coffee because of the lack of sleep the night before. I suggested going to a cafe I've researched ahead, but before getting in, we needed to have a reservation first. So I reserved a slot at 3:20 PM and we went back to shopping at Harajuku while waiting for the time.
The reservation is only valid for the day, and it cannot be done online. You have to personally come to the store, leave your name and they would ask you to circle around Harajuku while waiting. So when you're in Harajuku, be sure to come to the store first before touring the area.
Even when we had to come back after almost 2 hours, it didn't feel that long because we got entertained with shopping and seeing lots of stuff in Harajuku. I wasn't able to take a lot of photos because at the famous Takeshita Street, it's crowded, as usual, and the crowd was like pushing you forward. It's a very busy street that Harajuku is known for. It's hippy, lively, and colorful - as expected of Harajuku.
We came back to the cafe at around 3 PM and we had to wait inside. That's a bit better because our feet were already exhausted from all that walk back and forth the street.
This cafe is called Cafe Reissue. It's located on the quieter side of Harajuku. It's like a hidden gem that we found!
There are so many cafes in Harajuku - pet cafes, character cafes, maid cafes, JPOP cafes and so many that you could think of! But out of all, we chose this latte art cafe. It's our first time! Actually, it was my first time to enter a cafe in Harajuku in my 3 years living in Tokyo. LOL
There's no seated waiting area, we basically had to stand in line and wait for our turn. While waiting though they provided us with the menu and got our orders.
Because we were foreigners, the staff gave us the English menu. I should have asked for the Japanese menu too because there's a super mini latte in the Japanese menu and not found in the ones we're holding. I only knew about it because the Japanese girls in front of us ordered the mini latte combo. I wanted to have that too.
The cafe is small and cozy. It's not too noisy either. It's just the right place for relaxation on that Saturday afternoon.
I had to pin where I came from on their map board, just for fun. Also, there were so many photos on the wall of the latte art this cafe has already served to customers. There were many autographs on the wall too, meaning this place was visited by a lot of famous people already.
Since there were 2 available tables the time we're about to be seated, I picked the one by the window. Besides the view, my introverted self could not handle sitting in the middle.
Even when I just met my companion for the 2nd time today, we talked nonstop as if we've known each other for a while already. She's so friendly and humble. And yes, she's a she. I talked briefly about Hive to her too, I hope she will join soon. đ
Our orders came. Didn't take that long.
My friend ordered iced choco because she already had coffee in the morning. She didn't want to have more for the day. It was the cutest! She was surprised and so I was too!
Can you tell who this was? Oh yes, it's the cutest Pikachu from Pokemon!
The iced drinks in this cafe come with 3D art. For hot drinks, you can choose between 2D or 3D art. They can make any design that you show them. The popular ones are Pokemons, Ghibli's Totoro, Doraemon, and anime characters.
I ordered an iced white mocha. I was in dilemma if I should get the hot drink or not, and in the end, settled with the iced drink. In the next few months, Japan will be colder so hot drinks will be popular. I'm planning by then I would come back to this cafe to have that hot drink.
Our drinks were made by Runa-san, you can find here on Instagram: @runapocket.
My iced white mocha was so delicious! It's just the right amount of sweetness and bitterness. I don't usually like bitter coffee but it seems like I like the way they make their coffee here.
My 3D art latte design was something I found on google the last minute because I couldn't decide on a specific design, not because there's none but I have a lot to choose from. LOL So here's a cutie Togepi! Togepi is a small Pokemon. The name came from toge which means spike which you can see from this Pokemon. I just learned it from my partner when I bragged about my coffee. đ
The cheesecake we ordered was so perfect! I have been looking for this flavor in Japan for a while now because apparently there are so many kinds of cheesecakes here, all of them are good though but I wanted that New York style Cheesecake. This flavor was that. It was the right combination for the coffee!
We were so comfortable in the cafe and so full after finishing everything. It's such a perfect afternoon snack break from a tiring day.
I'll be sure to come back to this cafe in Autumn or Winter and try their hot drink! Would you go to this cafe? What design do you think should I do next?
Thanks for reading!
See you around! ăăăăăžăăďź
