Hey fellow hivers - i have decided to begin sharing blogs on how i make my art... before i share the story - here is the final image
So in this particular case i have been messing around with AI - specifically text to art based AI - the engine i used this time is Midjourney... they have an amazing system that creates unworldly results!
I dont want to share exactly which words i used however they went something along the lines of "portal tree with a sorceress, green flames, glowing smoke".... What the machine spat out was this
there were a bunch of other versions but this is the one i chose to work on... my first move was to begin cleaning up the image... removing unwanted artifacts and bringing the tree together... AI often gets a little abstract... i wanted to make it more realistic!! so i drew the tree in and painted over the artifacts, i also brought the flames to life with a bunch of painting..
Next i wanted to bring some symmetry into the picture.. so i copied the flames i had painted from the left side and added them to the right.
I then started playing with backgrounds... but i didnt really like it, every background i added seemed to draw away from the image
Settling into the scene and taking away the background i began working on foreground... i painted over some blemishes and began adding tree silhouettes in the foreground and on the sides of the image!
Something was missing.... and so i began the hard part of the journey... painting in a subject! i usually struggle alot with human figures but i think she turned out good.
I decided to give a background another try... at the same time i played with the idea of fireflies!! i really liked them but again... it took too much away from the subject
So i went in for the kill... took away the fireflies and the background then worked on the lighting around the woman and tadaaaa there we have it... a finished piece!
Over all i really enjoyed making this piece!! alot was learned and i am already on my way to making another in a similar style...
