I did my Industrial Training Presentation today. Industrial training is also known as Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme(S.I.W.E.S). It is a two to six month programme for all higher institution student. It is compulsory and a must to do before one will be awarded any certificate in higher institution in Nigeria. During this programme, one will seek employment in any establishment that is pertaining to one course of study. With this one gain working experience concerning one course of study. It bridges the gap between the theoretical and practical aspect of ones course of study.

I am a Biochemistry student and I did my Industrial Training at 561 Nigerian Aiforce Hospital Laboratory, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa. It is medical laboratory where variety of medical test are done such as Full Blood Count(FBC), Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), Random Blood Sugar (RBS), Electrolyte and Creatinine (EuCr), Liver Function Test (LFT), Hormonal Test, Full Lipid Profile (FLP), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Blood group, Genotype, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) test, Pregnancy Test (PT), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) test, Urinalysis, High Vaginal Swab (HVS), Seminal Fluid Analysis(SFA), Mantoux test, Endocervical Swab (ECS), Ear Swab e.t.c. I really learn a lot during my Industrial Training at 561 Nigerian Airforce Hospital Laboratory. I got to know about the biochemical and chemical significant of lots of medical test, how to carry them out and the disease associated with each medical test.

For the purpose of my Industrial Training presentation, I talked on Urinalysis. Urinalysis is a test carried out on urine to check the chemical component of the urine, microscopic test and the physical examination of the urine. This can be used to check some metabolic disorder and diagnose lots of diseases like Liver inflammation, Kidney diseases, Diabetes, Jaundice, Urinary Tract Infection e.t.c.
