My motivation for getting better in Blender is still there and so I am trying to dig further down the rabbit hole.
One of the featured beginner examples is some kind of meet up between a monster and a man.
So I tried to recreate it.
I kind of understand now why low-poly is so popular among various game dev artist 😀
Unlike the famous donut this exercise is all about a stylized - low poly look. Making some things easier, yet the scene not less interesting.
First of, I started with the old man.
With a flashlight as only weapon he mets a giant on the street.
The monster itself is a bit more complex but still no rocket science.
Glowing red eyes will be his highlights.
Time to put them in scale and position
The general scene is a simple road with street lights on the side.
Thinking about it, I could have added a trash bin or other small details.
You're always smarter afterwards.
Time for colors!
As the low poly models already suggest, there is not going to be some fancy light effects, yet trying to get a good overall mood.
Finally I added a dense fog and started with the lightning.
I went for a mor dark and scary atmosphere.
After cleaning everything up and tweaking the color and light values I got my final renders.
Evern though the models are not somewhat complex, I still like the outcome of this project.
As a beginner-project I think its ok :)
