Hi guys how are you all? I hope you all are doing great. So guys today I am back again with another Splinterlands monster review. It has been really fun reviewing these different monsters and today I have another interesting one for you guys.
The monster I am going to talk about today is Gobalano Soldier.
Gobalano Soldier is a Common Fire monster from the Rebellion Core set. The first thing I noticed about this monster is its very low mana cost. It only costs 3 mana. Because of this you can easily fit it into many different teams especially when you are playing a low mana battle.
Even though it is a small monster and does not have very high stats it can still be useful because of its abilities. It has Sneak and Ambush from the beginning and later it gets Shatter as well.
So let’s talk about these abilities one by one.
The first ability is Sneak.
Sneak allows Gobalano Soldier to attack the last monster on the enemy team instead of attacking the monster in the first position. This is very useful because the last position is often used for support monsters or weaker monsters.
So instead of wasting its attack against the enemy tank Gobalano Soldier can go straight toward the backline.
This can create a lot of pressure on the opponent. If the enemy has an important support monster sitting at the back then Gobalano Soldier can target it directly. Sometimes taking out one backline monster can make a big difference in the whole battle.
The second ability is Ambush.
This is probably the most interesting thing about Gobalano Soldier. Ambush allows the monster to attack before the normal first round starts.
Think about it for a moment. The battle has not properly started yet and your Gobalano Soldier already gets a chance to attack.
Now combine this with Sneak and it becomes even more interesting.
Because of Sneak the monster can target the enemy backline. Because of Ambush it can do this before the normal battle begins.
So there is a chance that Gobalano Soldier can damage or even take out a weak enemy from the backline before the other monsters even get their normal turns.
That early attack can be very useful when you are trying to put pressure on your opponent from the very beginning.
The third ability is Shatter.
Gobalano Soldier gets Shatter at Level 5. This ability allows it to destroy the armor of an enemy when it hits.
This can be really useful against teams that depend heavily on armor.
For example if an enemy monster has armor protecting its health then Gobalano Soldier can hit it and remove that protection. After that your other attackers can have an easier time dealing damage to that monster.
Now let’s talk about how I would personally use this monster.
I would not use Gobalano Soldier as a tank. It is definitely not made for that job.
At Level 1 it only has 2 health and it has no armor. Even at Level 10 it only reaches 5 health. So putting it in the first position and expecting it to survive a lot of attacks is not a good idea.
Instead I would use it as a cheap backline attacker.
The main job of this monster is to put pressure on the enemy backline. Its low mana cost makes it even easier to add to a team.
For example if you have a strong tank and some good damage dealers you can still find room for Gobalano Soldier because it only costs 3 mana.
This is especially useful in low mana battles where you have to think carefully about every point of mana.
Of course Gobalano Soldier is not perfect.
Its biggest weakness is its low health. If the enemy manages to target it then it can go down pretty quickly. It also does not have any armor to protect itself.
So you need to be careful with your positioning and your overall team setup.
But honestly I think the abilities make up for its low durability.
Gobalano Soldier is not a monster that looks extremely powerful when you first look at it. But when you actually look at what it can do you can understand why it can be useful.
A 3 mana monster with Sneak and Ambush can create pressure very early in the battle. Then when you level it up and unlock Shatter it becomes even more useful against armored enemies.
I especially like the combination of Sneak and Ambush because it gives this little monster a very clear purpose.
It is not there to stand in front and take hits.
It is there to go around the enemy tank and attack from the back.
So if you like aggressive teams and you enjoy putting pressure on your opponent from the beginning then Gobalano Soldier can be a very interesting monster to try.
