Seeing the extreme weather at this time, it was unpredictable what would happen. Especially for the rainy season, the overflow of water can turn into a disaster. At a time like this I was reminded of one of the subjects in high school, namely Anthropology. Interesting what is discussed in one chapter - which states that between physical, mental and environmental conditions there is a very close relationship in shaping our human personality every time.
One of the determinists of geographic flow in the field of geography is "Samuel P. Huntington" stating that climate is the dominant factor that can influence the development of one's culture and personality.
Climate can determine economic activity. In cold climates, humans live by hunting animals, in semi-temperate regions people live as herders. Meanwhile, in wet areas the community usually farms, as well as the tools used also vary from one another.
Samuel P. Huntington further explained that regions with varied climates tend to produce creative humans. In pre-season (summer, fall or spring) people have to work hard in order to have supplies for winter to arrive. People who live in the tropics tend to be more relaxed because the climate is very gentle, and does not provide challenges.
However, on the other hand we must also understand that, this opinion is not entirely correct. This can be reexamined, that nature is not a determining factor, nature only provides possibilities. In fact, the dominant factor is humans who actually use nature. Utilization of nature is very dependent on the ability of humans to take advantage of opportunities provided by nature.
The difference of opinion is indeed still valid today. Because, at certain stages humans can modify nature to better suit the guidance of life. For example, various technologies in the use of nature as a source of human life.
However, under certain conditions, humans must be subject to natural law. Like humans will die, the occurrence of various natural disasters which until now are very difficult to predict and overcome, it is all the will of the Creator.
