It’s no surprise that Afrobeats is casually taking over and I think it’s safe to say there is no Afro beats without Nigeria. We are leading the category and even google recognizes us as its cultural origin.
Furthermore, music is so underrated sometimes if I do say so myself. It’s not only important for parties, weddings and the likes, some of us use it to meditate, some to ease stress, some use it for vibes to smoke some weed, some for house chores, some to workout etc. to sum it up, music is important for daily activities too.
Now to the main topic - Nigerian music, the leader of afrobeats. If vibes was a nation it’ll be my country.
Irregardless of so many misconceptions about Nigeria of which some are false, some are slightly true, some are slightly exaggerated and some are partly true, the point is we might not be the best but for what it’s worth we can assertively boast of our entertainment industry, Music to be specific.
From our talents that started two or three years ago to the legends that has been in the game for over decades, they all are doing tremendous work and releasing amazing music on a regular and I’ve never been prouder to be a part.
I’ve been in my feelings lately about a few things, which is why I ghosted for a while and I figured that was the best time to enjoy some good music. So I finally opened my Apple Music to browse new songs this weekend and all I can say is I was inspired to renew my old and boring playlist so why not share it with you guys.
Some of you might be like me with little to no interest or just plainly lazy to search for new good music well say no more, Winnie is here to your rescue.
Here are my current top five list of afrobeats that might blow your mind, Nigeria edition and in no particular order:
This song is a drug and I’m sure you’ll fall in love at first listen as did I.
If you like subtle beats and lyrics like me then you’d love this song for sure. He was smooth with it and the lyrics are pretty understandable and relatable for cognac drinkers like me haha if you know you know ;)
Definitely a good song for soft and low-key vibes.
Someone said “one of the white boys that can pass the hood without getting touched is Ed sheeran” and I couldn’t agree more. We have some nice Nigerian songs with him as a feature and he always delivers, infact I’ve officially given him an Igbo name - Edchukwu. You saw it here first!
Moreover, this song also has some subtle beats and I love it for that. To me it’s a perfect blend of Afro beats and pop and which other artist to deliver than Burna Boy our Breakfast President.
From the introduction beat of this song there is absolutely no way you’ll not fall in love with it. This song has got me hooked since it was released early this year and it’s a personal fave from the whole album.
It’s a plain and very straight forward message of what she wants through the lyrics with a sweet vibe. A 10/10!

Anyway, the intro beats of this song as well is lovely.
All the artists are next rated but I would say the all did a great job on the song. It’s extremely popular and hot in the country right now and it’s 100% worth the hype to me.
One thing about Fireboy is he’ll always drop a hit song whether single or a feature.
This has such a subtle vibe also but wait till the chorus where Asake with his choir vibe killed it.
This was the combo we never knew we needed, the song is definitely a 10 out of 10. I loved it the first time I listened and I’m sure you will too.
