Hello weekend, it’s been such an adventurous week if I do say so myself.
I was recently in a sitch with conflict.
How did I or how have I been dealing with it?
First of all, let me catch you up on what actually went down.
It’s girlies drama and I hate that I’m involved but brace up anyway.
There’s this girl friend of mine, we’ll call her Ash. She and I went way back and we’ve been friends since our childhood. She’s has this type of outgoing and extroverted personality, and she is so much of a talkative.
I hardly hang out with her because I didn’t really like that her talkative side which she manifests almost all the time and sometimes says things out of proportion.
Recently, as I came back home from Uni she was honestly anticipating my return and wanted us to hang out. As the people pleaser I am I agreed.
Three to four outings and it’s been going good, she talks but somehow not as much which was great for me.
So what went wrong?
One day I was to meet up with a male friend of mine at the mall, she was with me so I said what the hell I’ll just introduce her to him and we can all vibe and be friends, I informed him I was with my friend so he in turn brought his friend so it won’t be a three wheel thingy.
No harm there right?
After the introduction and yadiyadiya everyone got along nicely.
It was the second guy’s birthday days later, so it was only natural he gave Ash the invite.
Unknown to me he had asked her about me and she told him I said I wasn’t interested.
Which in honesty, she never spoke to me about anything regarding his extended invite and I never declined.
Well she hung out with them without me and sent me snaps on Snapchat without a word. Just literally snaps.
I am definitely not an overprotective friend so I shrugged it off.
Until she did it again.
This time I got irritated and confronted her because I felt as my friend she should’ve warned me or given context instead of randomly sending videos and pictures.
I politely told her what was on my mind regarding the issue and she got defensive. Because I dislike being in a mix, I quietly apologized to her and detached myself.
After the confrontation, our friendship started to get weird.
Since then we never spoke again, until few weeks later when she asked me to join her for facials and I declined.
Her birthday came up and I wasn’t invited but guess who she spent her day with, The guys and her friends.
It was as though she cared much more about their friendship than her’s and I. So I in return cut her off completely.
In essence, I always try to avoid conflict but when the devil works harder and I get caught up in one, how I deal with it is by confrontation.
Rather than inwardly despise them, I would tackle it immediately and sort it out.
But once I find out they don’t return the energy, I simply walk away and never reach out again.
I believe so much in protecting my peace and I have no desire whatsoever for drama, hate or conflict.
