Every country has its own unique culture and Myanmar has one too. This is called Thanakha. In Myanmar, the full moon day of Tabodwe (February) is designated as Myanmar Thanakha day.
I don’t think I need to introduce Thanakha in particular. It is common see on the faces of women and children in Myanmar. Our country, Thanakha is used by both men and women children and adults.
Thanakha is 100% organic and it also cheap. In Myanmar, Thanaka has long been used to moisturize the skin and protect the skin from sunburn. Let me show you how we use Thanakha.
This is the bark of the Thanakha tree.
This is the stone slab used for grinding Thanakha.
Add a little water to the stone slab. Then the Thanakha bark will be grind on the stone in the form of circle.
The essence of Thanakha will be as shown in the picture. Then apply it on your face with your fingertips. You can apply Thanakha in any shape you like. People in Myanmar apply Thanakha in the shape of square, a circle , a leaf, a heart, and so on. At Mandalay U Pain Bridge and Bagan, children often apply Thanakha to foreign tourist. I think that gesture is cute.
Thanakha is beautiful and make us cool in hot weather. It is also very fragrant. Most importantly, it’s a natural sunscreen. The people of Myanmar also use Thanakha during traditional festivals and daily. Despite the rise of modern make up, Myanmar women still love Thanakha.
Thanakha is now used in Myanmar to produce perfumes, powders and soaps. Is there anything in your country that is similar to Thanakha?
Thanks for reading my post. Have a nice day.
