Hi Pokemons Trainers from Hive! Today I want to talk about my experience building a team to face the Great League of Kanto. Why? 'Cause many trainers make the mistake of catching Pokémon based on their appearance or the excitement of the moment, leaving their team configuration for the last minute. However, if your goal is to conquer the Pokémon League in Pokémon Red and Blue, the real strategy begins on Route 1.
A winning team isn't improvised on Victory Road; it's planned from the start. To rise as the Champion of Kanto, you need versatility, type coverage, and the ability to respond to the region's toughest threats. Today, we analyze a balanced and lethal lineup: Nidoking, Jolteon, Jynx, Blastoise, Dodrio, and Dugtrio.
Note: This aren't the aboslute team, but is based in my own experience in the game.
Let's start...
▎Who Are Our Rivals?
The Pokémon League of Kanto is a trial by fire that separates novice trainers from masters. Here, you face the elite in a "King of the Hill" format where there's no time to heal between battles.
Lorelei (Ice/Water Type): She is the first barrier. Her team includes Dewgong, Cloyster, Slowbro, Jynx, and Lapras. Her combination of Ice and Water is dangerous, especially due to status moves like Confusion or Ice Beam.
Bruno (Fighting/Rock Type): A specialist in brute force. He uses Onix (x2), Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Machamp. His weakness is clear, but his Pokémon have high physical attack that can weaken you quickly if you lack defenses.
Agatha (Ghost/Poison Type): The most annoying. She uses Gengar (x2), Golbat, Haunter, and Arbok. Her Pokémon abuse Hypnosis and Dream Eater. They are fast and elusive.
Lance (Dragon/Flying Type): The climax before the end. Gyarados, Dragonair (x2), and Dragonite. He is the user of the most powerful attacks in the game (Hyper Beam).
Gary (The Champion): The final rival always has a balanced team, adjusted based on your starter Pokémon, but generally includes Pidgeot, Alakazam, Rhydon, Arcanine/Exeggutor/Blastoise (depending on choice), and Gyarados/Venusaur/Charizard. He is the ultimate challenge.
▎Why I Propose This Team
This team has been specifically selected to cover the leaders' weaknesses and maintain offensive pressure. In the first generation, speed and special-type moves are king.
• Blastoise: It is your anchor. With Surf and Blizzard (or Ice Beam), it is essential against Bruno (Rock) and Lance (Dragon). Its high defense allows it to withstand hits that others couldn't.
• Jolteon: In Red and Blue, the Electric type is superior thanks to its speed and the move Thunderbolt. Jolteon is vital for sweeping much of Lorelei's team (Water) and Lance's or Gary's Gyarados.
• Nidoking: It is the Swiss Army knife. Its ability to learn almost all TMs makes it indispensable. Give it Earthquake to destroy Agatha's Poison-type Pokémon and Gary's Rhydon, and Thunderbolt or Blizzard to add surprise coverage.
• Jynx: It is your secret weapon against Lance. With its Ice/Psychic combination and the move Psychic, Jynx dispatches Agatha's Poison types and Lance's Dragon types with astonishing ease. Additionally, its speed allows it to attack first almost always.
• Dodrio: Often underestimated, Dodrio is an offensive beast. With Drill Peck (a very powerful Flying-type move in this generation), it becomes the nightmare of Bruno (Fighting) and is a critical hit for any opponent that resists other types.
• Dugtrio: Its speed is unmatched in Kanto. Earthquake is a devastating move due to its high accuracy and damage in the first generation. Dugtrio is the quick solution to eliminate Agatha's Gengar before they can use Hypnosis.
As you can see, each of these Pokémon serves to counter our competitors. It requires sharp insight to understand that being a Pokémon trainer is not just about catching them all, but about building bonds and improving oneself through discipline and confidence. I hope you liked the post, see you next time.

Usa a Onix (x2), Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan y Machamp.
Usa Gengar (x2), Golbat, Haunter y Arbok. Sus Pokémon abusan de Hipnosis y Come Sueños. Son rápidos y escurridizos.
Lance (Tipo Dragón/Volador): El clímax antes del final. Gyarados, Dragonair (x2) y Dragonite.
