Since I can remember I have always loved the city of Puerto Ordaz, Bolivar state - Venezuela, place where I had a large part of my upbringing, and of course I have had a perspective as a city that was growing and having a greater development, admiring many of its buildings and planning of a city that was made to house a large number of people who came from other states, who made life in the city for all its opportunities.
For this reason, I show this series of photographs of some of its infrastructure, which affirm the characteristics of a city that had to stop due to the economic problems of the country, therefore this meant a delay in its development and less planning was seen for the metropolis, which had its beginnings more than 70 years ago, being considered one of the youngest cities in the country and that was growing by the development of mining companies in the locality.
Among some of the architectural characteristics of Puerto Ordaz, is that it does not have large buildings, although it is important its constructions that were better planned in important sectors such as Alta Vista, which has a very privileged position of being the highest area of the city, which is why all these photographs are of buildings that are in Alta Vista. In some cases they are older buildings and others are part of the new era of certain constructions, as well as some very important and symbolic architectural works of the city, such as the Parque de la Navidad and the C.V.G. building, which is the first building that was built in this city many decades ago.
Other aspects that I love about this city, is that it has great access roads and highways, so it is very rare to see traffic stagnation, as well as a great presence of nature, making harmony between the natural spaces and the city, because these are jungle lands, where in some centuries ago inhabited indigenous peoples, who knew how to coexist with the features of nature. All these aspects were taken into account by those who began to plan and build this city, which on the other hand, the city still has large tracts of land that can be used for construction, because we are in the largest state of Venezuela and in reality the population is much smaller than other cities in Venezuela such as Caracas, Valencia, Maracaibo and others.
Undoubtedly these photographs are part of capturing the beauty of the architecture of this city, as well as understanding the space and planning of this city, which still has great potential to become one of the most modern and best planned cities in America and the world. I hope that many of the country's problems can be solved and that there can be a better opening of investments, which will allow a better development of this city and the country.
