Why does Bitcoin Gold need to use Bitcoin's name? They are not using the Shaw 256 algorithm so why even bother calling it bitcoin at all? Money grab is the first word that stand out to me to be honest but what else? To me it is a useless idea ( lets go back to gpu mining) built on a name that has already made it with the hopes to jump on bitcoins coat tail. The gpu mining is not any less centralized (ie the big eth mines) and good luck getting a half decent gpu if your only now thinking about it.
The big question is why not build your own brand? If everything is so different why can they use bitcoins name? Can I make a coin called bitcain with the a pronounced like a o? This just seems backwards and is simply going to add to the confusion that already plagues the crypto world.
On the flip side I understand the space sort of needs these growing pains to move forward. My understanding is pretty minimal as I only just got into the space about a month ago but if anyone has some input please pitch in and lets get a conversation going here.
