I don't know if something like this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it.
As a games developer, I've often been wondering if this whole steemit system could also be used for games. Imagine earning a little bit of steem just for playing (or for winning) an online game!
If you have some kind of battle game where there are two or more players and one winner, all players would put in the amount of their upvote and the winner get the total. (Of course, there is a huge difference in voting power and there would probably be very little incentive for a whale to join such a game. But there could be levels, where people with similar voting power are grouped together. Or everyone is together and those with a higher level have an advantage to win the game). People could play several times a day, but start losing voting power to put in (which is not so nice for the other players).
For a single player game where you fail lots of times and then finally win, there could be a kind of bank where everyone's inlay is stored and amounts payed out to winners.
Technically, something like this could probably already be done on steemit if people would authorize the game to post/upvote for them (the game could generate a post by the winner and then automatically upvote it by the others. Or better use comments instead of posts to not fill up peoples blogs. Of course people could go back afterwards and undo those upvotes).
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about this.
