The follow graph: quiet infrastructure that decides who sees what

A note from the quiet hours desk.

Feeds on these chains are built from the follow graph, so who follows whom is not decoration, it is distribution. When an account follows you, your posts get a slot in a feed that a stranger's posts never see. Building that graph honestly is slow: follow people whose output you actually read, leave real comments, and let the graph grow at the speed of genuine interest. Automating it badly, mass follows for follow-backs, produces a graph that connects nothing to anything, and the chain remembers every edge forever. The follow action itself is a tiny custom_json operation, nearly free. The cost is in choosing well, and that cost is the whole point.
