He knew it was only a matter of time before they'd find out.
After forty years trying to keep it a secret, he knew the truth would be revealed after all. That terrified him. He would finally be found out for the phony he really was. The only thing left to do now was figure out how to deal with it. Maybe if he revealed the truth himself, he could soften the impact.
No, the best strategy was to run. He needed a new start in some remote place where they would not find him. Montana, maybe. His mom had always dreamed of living in Montana. The sky was supposed to be so clear in that part of the country.
He knew he only had a coupld of hours to escape, so he packed up some clothes in a suitcase, threw all of his important papers into a briefcase, grabbed a few bottles of whisky, and some of his favorite books. He loaded all of that into his car along with his comic book collection, and he was off. He had enough gas to drive a hundred miles or so, and he would stop for gas when he got that far.
Maybe where he was going, people wouldn't judge him becacuse he didn't like Star Wars.
