Do you want to know how this full, light and fluffy ‘hairdo’ is achieved? Follow me on this ride of simple discoveries.
In this blog I will show you how to make an Afro-wig in less than an hour using just five items. Sounds simple right? IT SURE IS.
I have always loved full weaves that gives off a bold and endearing look so making these wigs and wearing atop my plaited all-back cornrows is a go, especially during the hot weather. Let's get right into it.
Items used to make the Afro-wig
- A mannequin head
- A wig cap
- Glue bond
- (2) Two packs of weaves
- Scissors
The needle and thread are just extras to use in case the bond doesn't hold firmly the weaves to the cap at the edges.
In this case the glue bond held the weaves firmly, so there was no need for the needle and the thread.
I took out the weaves from the pack and opened them up as shown in the pictures.
I also got a pack with a blond colour as I like a touch of colour in my weaves making it more vibrant.
Here is a close-up look of the glue bond.
For the black weave I layered up two rims at once as seen in the picture, dabbed the glue along the rims and placed it on the cap all around in circles.
I checked the measurement after placing it around the cap before cutting it out to apply the glue bond.
As for the gold which is one bundle I used just one rim at a time as seen below. Then applied the glue bond to the rim before circling round as well.
For every double black rim of weave I used a single rim of gold weave atop till I filled up all the space on the black cap until it looked like the picture below.
Then I trimmed the protruding and excessively full hair till it was leveled and smooth as though in the barbing saloon with a pair of scissors as demonstrated below;
