While listening to the radio it is becoming blatantly obvious how ridiculous political correctness has become. The practice of firing someone for something they may have said on social media is stupid and is dangerous for the future.
Until such time that employers pay employees 24/7, allowing them to dictate private time activity can be nothing but a bad thing. Although I have no personal experience with this phenomenon, I find this practice nothing but a path to darkness. What's next, being fired for farting without authorization while sleeping in your bed?
We already allow ourselves to be tested for drug use. That alone tells us that we do not actually own our own bodies now it is becoming apparent that we are unable to own our minds either. Some of the things people say or post are quite heinous but they should be able to say them. Whether we like it or not should have no bearing on anything, employability or otherwise.
For example, a server utters some racial shit while drunk at the club should they be fired from their job? Not unless they say those things in public while on the clock. The same can be said for social media posts. Unless they are representing their employer in some way at the time they should be able to keep their job.
This path we are on does not lead anywhere good and we really need to put the brakes on. Our lives should not be lived in fear of offending someone. After all a person who is offended by something has made a choice to be offended. Often a persons own baked in preconceptions are more responsible for the offense than the actual statement. If I were to tell you to get back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich, you might be offended or act as if you were. Maybe I am not being misogynistic, maybe I think you make really great sandwiches and I am hungry. If these words are taken out of context a person uttering them could lose their job. Especially if some social justice warrior raises enough of a stink about it. Even though this same sjw may never have visited the examples place of employment. Even if they had it was most likely not to hear what they had to say.
In the above example the words could have been stated by a person who has no interaction with the public. A factory worker for instance. Yet they could lose their job over it. People actually have and they were great employees. If you cannot see how ridiculous this is then you might be part of the problem.
