What do you mean by space?
Does it mean the space between two people, the distance between them - physically? Mentally?
From my experience, it can mean one or the other, or both at the same time. The latter being the worst. There is nothing worse than being physically and mentally distant from the one you love or are trying to love.
If you're lucky, you will only experience these things a few times in a relationship and that is what will be the building blocks of whether its worth it or not!
Let me explain why.
If you're strong enough to come out of the distance a changed human being and have realised what went wrong and how you can improve it, then pat yourself on the back. Alternatively, If you've come out hating the person even more, just forget everything and leave. Now!
You know when they say distance makes the heart grow fonder? It's true and if both of you realise this and understand what needs to improve, things will always improve. However if one of you don't then its time to move on and let that relationship go. You aren't anyone's keeper. Nor are they yours.
Having space in a relationship is essential to survival. Don't be in each other's hair constantly everyday! Sit in different rooms, do your own thing, go out with other people, alone if need be but don't be in the same space all the time. You will appreciate the person you're living with much more and won't take them for granted. It will also teach you to always have a semi solid wall up, you will keep your independence intact and if things go wrong ever, you can still stand up on your own two feet.
Don't ever lose that semi solid wall. Be yourself and never be lazy in a relationship to a point where you want to do everything with that person. It won't work. Simple
