Hello again! Firstly... what a handsome young man. Now then... to reply to the following:
"Dear readers, have you or your children ever faced similar situations with virtual illusions? How did you handle them? Did you manage to find a compromise and preserve your child's trust when you had to shatter their illusions? I would be very happy to read your thoughts and experiences in the comments."
This is, in my opinion, a wonderful example of parenting! I am 56, have a son that no longer lives with us, but will be 27 next year and LOVES video games. We do have MANY grandkids (fiancé and I are not married, but I still call them mine) who love playing video games. The problem with most of the world right now? Everyone (not you or your son) live on a mindset of instant gratification... Expectation rather than appreciation. You were right to make a stand, and question what he was trying to do. If he feels he can bring anything to you, and not have to hide anything? Then you are doing something right... this is a lost art. I love all things technology. But there is a time and place, for everything. I feel it is important that we teach our children... a game will always be there. You can turn it off... When you come back, you can turn it back on! Continue where you left off!! We are unable to do that with life... Compromise is much like that word... Happy Medium... I think you are doing a wonderful job with your son. As long as you are both talking, and learning together. The journey will be a much smoother one! As always... a wonderful post! Thank you for sharing this journey with us... I look forward to hearing how things go!
