Hola de nuevo apreciada comunidad de Hive, espero estén teniendo una muy feliz tarde, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un recuerdo, fue la ultima cena familiar que tuvimos antes de que iniciara la cuarentena. Se trata de nuestra respectiva cena navideña del 31 de Diciembre.
Hello again dear community of Hive, I hope you are having a very happy evening, today I want to share with you a memory, it was the last family dinner we had before the quarantine started. It is our respective Christmas dinner on December 31st.
Todos los años mi familia organiza una cena navideña para despedir el viejo año, siempre ha sido tradición para nosotros que sea en esta fecha, ademas de reunir a todos los hermanos de mi padre, a todos mis primos, y amigos de la familia. Este ultimo año la foto familiar estaba muy pequeña, pues gran parte de mis primos y tios han tenido que emigrar a otros países, no miento al decir que 50% de mi familia ha tenido que dejar atrás su país para buscar un mejor futuro, incluso mi hermano que se encuentra en esta foto, actualmente ya no se encuentra en Venezuela.
Pero aunque mas duela no poder compartir con todos como en años anteriores, seguimos la tradición para los mas pequeños de la familia. Todo comienza desde tempranas horas de la tarde, comenzamos a preparar la comida, y los postres, todo muy rico y hecho por cada hermano de mi padre.
Every year my family organizes a Christmas dinner to say goodbye to the old year, it has always been a tradition for us to have it on this date, besides gathering all my father's brothers, all my cousins, and family friends. This last year the family photo was very small, because most of my cousins and uncles have had to emigrate to other countries. I am not lying when I say that 50% of my family has had to leave their country to look for a better future, even my brother who is in this photo, is currently no longer in Venezuela.
But even though it hurts more not to be able to share with everyone as in previous years, we continue the tradition for the youngest members of the family. Everything begins in the early afternoon, we start preparing the food, and the desserts, all very tasty and made by each brother of my father.
Yo suelo entretener a mis primos y primas, desde el mas pequeño al mas grande, jugamos, cantamos y bailamos, mientras otros se encargan de los arreglos.
Todos colaboran en una tarea, como ordenar las sillas, buscar los platos y vasos, y otros se encargan de servir, yo soy el encargado de mantener a los pequeños lejos de la cocina, me la llevo muy bien con todos mis pequeñines, y solemos tomarnos muchas fotos.
I usually entertain my cousins, from the youngest to the oldest, we play, sing and dance, while others take care of the arrangements.
Everyone helps with a task, like arranging the chairs, finding the plates and glasses, and others are in charge of serving. I am in charge of keeping the little ones away from the kitchen, I get along very well with all my little ones, and we usually take a lot of pictures.
Luego que todo esta preparado, ya están los platos servidos y en la mesa, por tradición mis tíos mayores, y los niños comen primero, luego nosotros los adolescentes.
After everything is prepared, the dishes are served and on the table, by tradition my older uncles, and the children eat first, then we teenagers.
Ademas un pequeño detalle, como la mesa es muy pequeña, nosotros comemos fuera en otra mesa, pero siempre en familia.
Also a small detail, as the table is very small, we eat out at another table, but always as a family.
Al final de la cena navideña se acercan las 12 AM, y ya estamos preparados para recibir el año nuevo, repartimos los juguetes a los niños, y esperamos con ansias las 12 campanadas.
Los jóvenes, nos sentamos a conversar de nuestras vidas, la universidad, los amigos y demás cosas, mientras que los mayores recuerdan lo que hacían en la infancia (todos los años lo hacen).
Nos preparamos para recibir el año, con globos del deseo, y pedimos por nuestros amigos y familiares que se encuentran lejos, y por que todas esas familias que hoy están separas para vuelvan a estar juntas pronto y celebrando. Mis tíos hacen un respectiva oración y comenzamos el conteo regresivo para dar el feliz año.
At the end of the Christmas dinner, 12 AM is approaching, and we are ready to welcome the new year, we hand out the toys to the children, and we look forward to the 12 bells.
The young people, we sit down to talk about our lives, the university, friends and other things, while the older ones remember what they did in childhood (every year they do).
We prepare ourselves to receive the year, with balloons of desire, and we pray for our friends and family who are far away, and for all those families who are separated today to be together again soon and to celebrate. My uncles say a prayer and we begin the countdown to the happy new year.
Y así despedimos el año, y le decimos hola al nuevo, al terminar comenzamos a llamar a nuestros seres queridos en el extranjero, ese momento de tanta alegría, luego se convierte en nostalgia y lagrimas.
Pero es lo que viven muchas familias venezolanas hoy en dia, por eso espero que algun dia volvamos a reunirnos con nuestras familias y que en cada hogar venezolano haya esa alegria que sentiamos por un 31 de Diciembre.
And so we say goodbye to the year, and we say hello to the new one, at the end we start calling our loved ones abroad, that moment of so much joy, then it turns into nostalgia and tears.
But that is what many Venezuelan families are living today, so I hope that someday we will be reunited with our families and that in every Venezuelan home there will be that joy that we felt for a 31st of December.
